My Audient iD 22, and why I love it

This is my much adored Audient iD22. It is the third audio interface that I have used in my various home studio setups over the years.
Here’s why I love this model:
It has 3 customisable function buttons, giving my a fluidity that I’ve never had with another audio interface.
This model specifically has 2 balanced insert send and returns for each of its preamps. This really increases the adaptability of my interface within a larger studio setup.
It has a built in high pass filter.
The preamps have 60dB of mic gain and a signal to noise ratio of 96dB.
This model has a metal chassis. At first I thought it would be too heavy duty, as most audio interfaces are designed to be lightweight. But by the time my multiple inputs and outputs are plugged in, the robust nature of the interface becomes a really lovely feature.
My previous models were the Audient iD14, and the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2nd Gen. I’m a huge fan of them both.
Audio interfaces are like microphones, in that most of them do a brilliant job, so choosing the right one for your setup is a process that can only take time.
It’s been a pleasure working with new equipment as my studio upgrades and booth build change the requirements and preferences of my setup.
But for the next few years, I have a feeling this is all I’ll need to deliver the quality I’m looking for in my recordings.
