This is just awful.
It’s proof that sexist, demeaning comments persist. Even on profiles that are highly curated to be nothing but professional.
You may be aware of my Formal Friday’s: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/kathryn-vinclaire-bb0a24159_formalfriday-freelance-digitalmarketing-activity-7024668973405229056--bNN/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop
An awesome ritual that I started during lockdown, to make the most of my gorgeous collection of formal dresses and inject some fun into the last day of the workweek.
It’s brought me nothing but joy since I started it.
I’m ecstatic to say other people in my network join in!
But, once in a while, some male follower or another will think that LinkedIn is an appropriate place to send me a creepy message.
This could be in a comment, like this one, or even a private message.
I feel the need to state the obvious:
That I don’t dress for any reason other than my own happiness.
It’s got nothing to do with any man, or woman, who wishes to be inappropriate.
Formal Friday is a celebration of serendipity. It’s silly. It’s fun!
It’s not a thirst trap.
And honestly, LinkedIn is where I connect with my network.
I’m here to chat with clients, learn from mentors, and inspire creative freelancers!
And comments like this one just drag everything down.
Let’s call out comments like this.
Because I know for a fact…
I am not the only woman on LinkedIn dealing with this crap.
